I suppose you have a point there, But in real life if I am laying down with my eyes closed pretending to be sleeping and someone comes up to attck me, I'm obviously going to be vulnerable, even if I'm ready for them. In the game, you are more vulnerable to an initial attack if your eyes are wide open and you are just resting. I think this is an abuse of game mechanics. I think it was a clever tactic none the less, but this sort of stuff violates the spirit of the game.
