Remote Viewing is a standard practice among occult and psychic initiates. Heh, the U.S. Gov't used to fund clairvoyance projects to help in the Cold War. Conjuring demons, is that unique to AD&D? Nope. Familiars? Nope. After a while enough of the common lore around these things is well-enough established that you can pretty much be guaranteed that any game that involves some form of conjuration is going to do something fairly similar to any other. Hopefully implementation is where the bells and whistles lie.

That pretty much what I thought as well. There are many
spells/skills that tend to appear from mud to mud. It's
up to the implementors/coders on these muds to put their
own little twist on it to make novel, interesting and
hopefully balanced. CF does this the best out of all the
muds I've been to.
