I heard that Zorszaul killed Palan last night, so I signed onto Dio's page this morning from the lab, when I had a minute...

Palan earns Zorszaul's trust by making him a lich... he had the panther statue, there's only one, no doubts the imms told Zorszaul to get THAT particular statue simply because they knew there was no way he'd get it away from Palan. The odds were beaten there.

Then, Vilhazarog tells Zorszaul to kill Palan.

How much do you want to bet that Zulghinlour told Palan to kill Zorszaul at roughly the same time?

So, Palan and Zorszaul maneuver around one another, playing out the friendly facade that makes a quick, decisive strike possible, all in order to gain what they want from their respective gods... neither of whom actually want to give anything to the pair.

And behind Palan and Zorszaul were the Empire imms, laughing their asses off and watching what transpired next.

Oh, it's this kind of stuff that makes me glad I'm a human being.
