Let us forget the blindness for a moment...
Take poison and weaken (the damage on resisted ragers is ridiculous so I do not count it).
Yes, it is a good minus for your strength.
Yes, being a felar as Nesam does not help too
However, imagine a wisely (!) dressed warrior
I personally played an assassin so I assure you there are plenty of items to increase your strength. Yes, that means you will have lesser dam/hit. But it seems to me having your weapon in your hands is much better than having high damage modifier with claws (in this particular case.. however,in general).
Now, we all know ragers die too often. The suggestion is: keep your rage for a moment and go gather some equipment to fight the mages better.
And finally, imagine a situation when Nesam does not loose his spear. Did you ever fought a defensive specialist warrior with a major offense? I did. Basically, in dumb fight Nesam(place any resisted defensive warrior here) vs ram, ram has no chances even considering barier, aura and shield.
Yes, there are different ways however even when scourge did not work. But scourge alone will not win a fight against a prepared rager.
