Same premise as before, slightly modified after some thought to game balance and balance of powers.

Yank Heal.(keep cure crit)

Yank sanc.(keep the other protectives)

Yank holy word

Yank sanctify room

Keep word of recall...up its level.

Give them a protection from bash like shamans have, make it high rank.

Lower the level(not power) of wrath.

Raise the level of summon.

Give them some sort of faerie fog spell...to root out the evil in the shadows..mid 20's

give them mid 30's the ability to forge a shield...when worn adds a warcry type affect to them. crumbles after a while like assassin daggers or ranger staffs.

Give them the option to get empowered or not...say rank 30 or 35(the choice is a one shot choice, if they advance without empowerment, they choose the other path and can not change their mind). If they get empowered they get sanc, heal, a group recall, and sanctify room back...if they choose to not go empowerment, they get bash and holy word and a skill like berserk, but instead of healing them, raises their hit/dam (cumulative with holy word) by an amount based on level,is +(detrimental) to the ac..but does a flurry type maneuver if they are fighting evils, no flurry type maneuver if who they fight is not evil, and would also be a haste, but haste and hit/dam bonus would only last until end of the current combat, while the + ac lasted 10 hours, and the skill can be used again within the 10 hours, but the +ac would be cumulative...thus invoking the rule of diminishing returns

Now you are going to say "flurry, thats just like warriors" well, to that I ask you if serpent strike isnt coded pert near Jab...and bearcharge pert near bash.

Just some random thoughts...although when I think about it, I think it would be a good change to Paladins.

Of course, I may just be loony....
And all of this discussion is moot, because if paladins are changing someone already is on the job with their own ideas, and if they are not...then they wont listen to these ideas anyway.
thoughts comments?
