I'll say what I meant more precisely if it will make you happy. If another immortal knows who you are you'll never be quested for anything special by that immortal. Better? What's more fun is that immortals are typically harder on other immortals' mortals if they know who they are as well. As an example, I probably gave Istendil a completely unfair Lichquest in comparison to the others that were being handed out because I knew he had an excellent working knowledge of many areas and of the workings of the mud. If I were to give an equally difficult quest to, let's say, the Arcane because I knew who he was in RL, how fair would that be?
Hate to dissappoint you, but large in part, yes. An example exception (and probably the most common exception) would be if the quest was run by a low-level immortal (who doesn't have the tools available to determine what site a character is from) who then requested that the mortal that completed the quest was rewarded with X.
