*What is your race/class/align? *How might a person like that act? A Paladin could be kind and helpful, an A-P would likely be a total jerk. *What kind of things might have happened in this person's life to shape the way they act? I try to avoid cliches like "Mages killed my Parents." or "Evil killed my parents." I kinda challenge myself to leave the family alive, far too many orphans in Thera. *What talents does this person have that developed into choosing their particular profession? How did they realize/discover their talents? *Did this person have a mentor? *NAMES. I find that having names for siblings, parents, mentors, what have you gives much greater depth to your story. If stumped, try this link: *Last of all, find ways to help your role generate who you are as you play. Perhaps your character has an aching joint from an old training injury, or maybe they burned their hand badly brewing their first potion.
