There is a delay between animations of corpses and if you still have a few hours left and come across a corpse you can embalm it and it will not decay near as fast.
Or, while you are awaiting the end of the delay from an animation you can be working on gathering your corpse for the next (and embalm it).
It doesnt have anything to do with the level of the zombie you recieve that I know of.
