What happened was what usually happened:

Zorszaul would log on, and within the next hour (sometimes within 5 minutes), every rager hero would suddenly have to leave. I'm the last one to admit a raging mud addiction (I tend to get tired after 2-3 hours), but as the Lich can attest, the logouts and link dropping were consistent with his appearance.

In this case, Zorszaul was beating on you in New Thalos and I came to help. I attacked him at the Southern Gate and all of the guards jumped on him, allowing both of us to get away. He then did whatever he does as a Lich (gather undead, inspire terror, etc, etc) for about 30min to an hour (long enough to amass that army). In that time, the three of us were on (only village heroes on) and I was interviewing. The minute Zorszaul started making his way to the village, Gelkof bugged out. You did the same. I don't deny that you never fought him, but rather that you two would drop link if you had to fight him on your terms. After this, villagers like Kacic were constantly reporting to me about you, Gelkof, and other Heroes doing this. Boltthrower even posted a note and kicked a few people out over it.

All I asked in my note to you two was to lead by example...that example should not be quit when you face certain death.

I notice that from your graveyard entry, you con-died on 12-29-99. I played consistently through the 27th of January (I was on Christmas break from 12-24 to 1-2 ../messages/6638.html).

On the 28th I found out that my schedule was such that I would be hardly able to play for the next three weeks or so), so on Feb. 3, I posted the note to battle that I was stepping down). On 2-25-00, I returned with ../messages/8817.html

Had you been around to read my note, you would have seen that I clearly stated that since I could NOT lead by example, I would act in the best interests of the village and step down.

When I did, there were a lot of applicants out there who had not yet/would not complete the quest I had given them. Nearly all of them entailed finding an object in a commonly used area for hiding. I used the sewer a lot, for example, because for a majority of the ragers, if you flee from galadon to the sewers, you might as well have gone to the 9th circle of hell as far as them being able to find the T-Crossing.

I got a lot of angry notes from 'me smash mage' type applicants who couldn't find the devil rod or the shock whip.
