1) Typing "Trinthereid" takes 11 characters, and you might spell it wrong. Typing "2." is faster. Speed is nice.
2) The way the "stacking" works, if someone has just entered the room, and you enter right behind them, "2." will get them, even if a mob is present. The only way "2." would have been worse is if a mob had entered the room in between the two players, which is unlikely in this log.
3) Scrollback is not available on all clients. In any event, he was using "co sun 2." during the fight, so it would have repeated it. During the fight, it would have been smarter to use "co sun". But it's also possible that he was using scrollback, and that is exactly why he did go with "co sun 2."
