Several things... Although you do not lose move from bloodthirst, you can't move if you have negative move even thirsted. Furthermore... If you have no mana, you can't thirst. Furthermore, thirst doesn't last too long, and cloud giants don't have much mana, so with a few plagues on Ioanis' head, sapping both his move and his mana, using fatigue/energy drain probably is the best strategy.
