Rot does have several other strategic uses besides the "Ha ha, that guy will die. . .somewhere. . .eventually" tactic that it often becomes.

I find that the "cheap kill" strategy of rot is not all that hard to defeat. In the 3+ years it's been in the game I've never had a character be killed by rot. 'course. . . I can count all of my sleep deaths on one hand, and a majority of those are on characters that were eventually Battle but hadn't gotten into the cabal yet.

There are ways to get around almost everything -- and no, they're not goofy secret things like holding a light source and making a secret hand signal at a nightgaunt.

That goes for frightful fiend too. I'm lookin' in your direction there, Imbrogno. :P
