In Reply to: Nature/Magic interview, some confusion involved. posted by Dyerwaen on June 13, 2000 at 04:27:57:
Well the take that I usually tried to instill into my interviews was that Magic was not out to "destroy" nature. Nature is EXTREMLY powerfull, and if "harnessed" and not let to run amuck in all its random chaos, it could bring great power to the mages of THera as well as the tower. He WAS on the right track with the gravity thing. Gravity/fly spell is a perfect example of how magic and nature oppose each other. Without the force of gravity you could be affected by the spell 'fly' forever..sounds nice eh? I often used an invokers spells to explain the chaotic nature of natural elements. Lets say..the difference between a lightning bolt shooting from an invoker's finger and coming down on a oak tree in the middle of a storm is that there is no way no how no possiblility you could predict that hit on the tree, a invoker however can put it when, and where, and how often he wants it. If this chaotic force could be brought under control think of the power...THere was not a single interview i spoke of this that I didnt think in the back of my mind how utterly stupid the spells call lightning/control weatrher are, it totally goes against the CF magic/nature roleplay. I dont see how you can draw natural lightning down to strike your opponants in an area around you..and if it IS possibel it would be a hell of a bar trick and WAY beyond th elikes of a mere Ranger, and paladins? Out of the question...unless its your gods wrath blah blah.
Anyway im off the subject a tad.

***DISCLAIMER***
THese are the opinions of the posters former char and might not be anywhere near correct in the mind of Twist but this is how I interviewed and was told I did quite well. Daubaen was not into the whole "kill sylvan" thing when he was in the tower, He tried and tried and tried for peace with the warders but they were just to damned bloodthirsty to take time to talk.
**DISCLAIMER #2**
"Peace with the Warders" does not mean he does not seek to controll nature, it only means he doesnt want to war over it. More of a 'fuck over nature behind their backs' approach.
