The lame name rule is not perfect.

Some people are going to slip through the cracks.

But: You know when you are rolling up a character whether or not the name breaks the rules. At that time, if you decide to go ahead and break the rules, you are throwing the dice in a crap shoot, hoping for an eight the hard way. You are betting that your name will be one of the ones that slips through the cracks, knowing the odds are against you. If you want to go ahead and make that bet, fine, but don't be pissed when the dice don't come up eight the hard way. Don't be mad at the guy who bet box cars with "Kuslatromi" and won. Both of you bet on lame names, both of you took the chances on it before the character was even born, and both of you have a 95% chance of losing with your lame name.

My opinion? It's really not worth it. Even if you win with your stupified name, is it really winning? Boxcars pays big money. Getting to Hero with "Bolechim" pays.. well, nothing.

So, again, the system is not perfect, but it is 95% effective. It's up to you if the ego boost you get from ranking up a lame name is worth the near-certain risk of denial.
