One might even call Shimae soft for not anathemizing you at this point.

This line translates to "please anathemize me." Any Sect Leader worth his/her salt would've done so. The semblance of power and confidence are easily as important as power itself. It's true that not every Imperial can have the player skill to walk around kicking ass and taking names all the time. But even Imperial can act as though this were the case, downplaying their defeats, blaming them on others, and emphasizing their victories, no matter how few. I'd recommend reading Machiavelli's The Prince, or at least sections of it, prior to playing an Imperial. Well, I recommend reading it in general, actually. It's good stuff.
