In Reply to: this is completely idiotic. If anything immortals, tone down the conjurers. log enclosed. posted by frellis on July 4, 2000 at 10:21:03:

When you fight a conjurer, when he is ready... expect to loose.

After having played my first conji, to hero, here are my observations:

I'm not sure how many pk's I've won, but I haven't lost one. Came close to a near hero Rager, I think down to 58hps, then my stupid archon decided to start helping me. I have died, probably 20 times to mobs. And I died once to a dagger, but we aren't going to talk about that *mutter*.

Things to do when fighting a conji:

1. Strike first. Archons take a round to kick in, if you do enough damage in that first round, it wont sanc him, it will heal him... making the conji much easier to kill. If you keep pouring damage on, he will never get a sanc, just heals... making him killable.

2. Try to fight him in a room, with other mobs. If you are a rager, in a tower, with other golems is expediant. His elemental will "insert area attack effect here", when it does, it will be busy for a few rounds, leaving the conji elementaless (heh, nice word) for a few moments. 'Course if you are a AP or Necro, just summon an elite or the dark man, that will keep him busy for some time.

3. Dispel him. If you have c 'dispel magic', use it. His commnues from the archon can be dispelled just like anything else. Also, you might get his wands and potion stuff. nuff said there.

4. Disarm, Offhand, Deflect, Kot, Kan, etc... Yes, this works, after some of the above things have been done. Conjis have parry and shield block for thier defense, take those out, and you could concieveably land more damage to him, than his archon could heal.

5. Don't panic. Looking at your log, and this happens to ALOT of people, if would have just seen where you fled too, you could have ran east, and made a stand in Hamash, where I'm sure the guards there, still frown on wanteds. (Oh wait, hes a baron! You say. See number 2. The enforcer, slayer, six hamash guards will tear up, even hero level elementals) Panic breads death in the fields.

6. And perhaps the easiest rule to follow... Don't fight him, when he wants to fight you. That ussually means he's ready. Unless you are defending a cabal (Not Empire) and have to stay to defend it... don't fight him. Unless you he is an Imperial conjuror, or has a pet Tranny, or some item that slows him, he takes between 6-12 hours to summon more servitors. Find his safe spot (i.e. cabal) and whack him then. One of my most memorable stands, was with another master conji, at the tower. It was right after a crash, so we had no Archons or Elementals, just Angels. Two sylvans came, and well, it could have gone either way, but it was good timing on thier part, as they knew we would be without servitors, and good fighting all around.

Hope this was somewhat constructive.
