It isn't just the spellcasters the AP's have ripped off skills from.
1. weapons selection (think on what weapon a paladin is just not going to parry)
2. bash
3. trip
4. cleave
5. dual wield
All of these are available well before level 40, and all of these will mess up a paladin.
Furthermore, spells other than worldbind:
1. wands/scrolls
2. sleep
3. plague
4. poison
5. summon
Anyway, I could go on, but just to say, a Paladin has to keep his wits and preparations about him to compete with a barrierd/shielded/stoned/protected AP dual wielding two axes. Trust me, play a paladin and see how many shadowrunners you kill, and come back to tell me how easy it is. It always comes back to who wants it more and who was better prepared for the various advantages and disadvantages, and it's never easy. That's why the damned game is fun.
