Well, not all rangers love and cherish all creatures of the forest. While a ranger's skill package dictates that they are the type of person who has spent a lot of time in the wilderness, recall that there are no alignment restrictions or imposed moral codes on rangers. Sure, it's bad roleplaying for a Sylvan Warder. But not all rangers go that route. Some might not care one way or the other what happens to the others. They'd likely be evil, but it could fall within a role.

Heck, I can think of two viable role archetypes which would encourage the slaughter of forest guardians, actually.
