The way I see it is that Thalen is a druid. A priest of nature that happens to believe in the tenets of either Cyradia's or Scarabaeus's religion. Thalen is neutral. Thalen draws his power from nature. Why then should it be assumed that Thalen must be destroyed simply because the inner guardian of his cabal is a lich?
Sure, it's not BAD roleplaying to kill him, but I think there should be more thought put into it then "Oh well his item is protected by a lich so therefore he must die."
Were I a Sylvan I'd see him as somebody who's misguided, who could probably use a good talking to, and who I should probably be wary of, but not somebody I should automatically seek to destroy.
I'd be interested in hearing Malaglen's take, if only because he's the only current sylvan I've spoken with who seems to have a level head on his shoulders.
