Having travelled with Daellan, my impression is he is somewhat new and does not know where to get wands (i think they moved barrier again anyway since i needed em). Playing most mage classes without wands is less effective than playing a shaman without sanc or an assassin without dodge. Offensive forms offer just that, offense. Without someone or something protective them, they will not survive a figth. In my opinion, if a new player want to play a mage, and has no idea where wands are, the best options are a conjuror, an arcane muter so he can at least move without detection, or a defensive muter (prob util as minor) so he will at least have some natural defense or damage reduction. Other option is to get in masters so you have transform. A warrior with perfected defenses will still easily handle most forms unless they are halted, slowed, softened. I imagine Daellan just turned into a Ram and Charged.
