1) Make sure you post ALL relevant details. Logs that just show a part of the incident are more likely to be deemed character assassination and will promptly be removed.
2) Refrain from titling your logs using sarcastic or acidic remarks. Posts containing such things as "Ragers suck" and the like are more likely to be deemed character assassination and will promptly be removed.
3) Think for a minute about what you want to convey by posting your log. If it's to make people "aware" of what is going (that probably shouldn't be going) on it'll likely be deemed character assassination and will promptly be removed. Any additions to the log, whether it be in the form of an author's note or the like should make it clear what you hope to achieve from posting your log as well as to explain what we're supposed to be looking at.
4) If you think your log might be misconstrued as character assassination it might be a good idea to take out any names. This way nobody gets a finger pointed at them, but the imms are made aware that something wrong is happening and that they should make a better effort to watch for such things.
The above are not the official criteria of all VIPs but is a good outline of what the more adamant of us are likely to take into account when viewing logs and weighing their worth.
