Probably for the same reason....:

... FriendlyConjurer threw him to the wolves during te first fight- a lot of people tend to panic when PKed. In both cases, the player probably reacted to a lot of quick yells and spam, and assumed their side would lose.

Now... this isn't always a bad idea. Noone walks around fully prepped 24/7, excepting high-level Ragers to some extent. The attackers will often be much more ready than the defenders in situations like the one above- defenders running around Darsylon, and the attackers prepare outside the area, move to an edge, and summon. They've had a moment to get protective spells, appropriate weapons, and a plan. (The plan being the most important.)

In the first fight, one warrior got summoned/slept, and FriendlyConjurer may have realized it was now a two-on-three, and tried to save his own ass. SmallWarrior was doing well against the thief, but was going to have a lot of trouble winning against a thief, necromancer, warrior and giant merc, especially without flight.

In the third fight, it looks like the groupmates got caught offguard. (They moved after he got attacked, SmallWarrior never got a command off, and the AP was talking after the recall had gone through.) The transmuter probably assumed that SmallWarrior was going to get killed, and never bothered to check "group" or look at him. Now, -that- fight was probably going to go SmallWarrior's way- he beat the piss out of the thief, worked the necro (who was apparently using nothing but wraithform) down to bleeding wounds, and was still at 83%. If that recall had been a SmallWarrior cranial, that Necro was in serious trouble. But the trannie (who was dragged out of the room for the first round or so) didn't look long enough to know that. Understandable- a tough enemy group might have killed him in that time.
