Keep in mind that as a Rager, you have the least access to preparatory methods of anyone on CF. You also cannot be spelled up by anyone other than a bard.
With the revamp in, evil Ragers have good reason to be scared of paladins, for the same reasons they should be scared of shamans- your powers just aren't set up for that fight. A high damroll is always useful, but against...
- a decent/good tank (esp. shield spec)
- lots of damage resistance (sanct, possible giant resist, protection, potions, pills, friends),
- average to above average damage dealer
- big damage/utility communes that can't be negated by spellbane (although spellbane helps your saves)
- no easy vuln (except elven paladins)
- Summon, to take the fun out of bloodthirst
...it's a bad matchup. I think a good ranger or assassin would be the matchup they fear most, but I admit I don't know so much about neopaladins to know for sure. But as a warrior who renounces magic, you surrender much of your ability to -really- prep against a given class/race/cabal. The usual analogy I make is that on a power scale of 1 to 10 (10 high), a poorly equipped Rager with mediocre skills still rates about a 5, whereas amost Ragers top out at 8 or 9 for the types of reasons given above. They just can't get to 10, because of all the things they aren't allowed to do. But as long as they have the bloody head, they're plenty dangerous.
That being said, wrath is a nasty commune, but every class has their nasty tricks. I'm sure two-hand specs hate kotegaeshi, and even the self-proclaimed badass Solkar got PWK'ed by Desanguina of all people. As long as every class is equally overpowered, it's no big deal. =)
> Yes. Wrath-spamming is only overpowered to people unwilling to look at their own mistakes in a battle and learn from them.
> Bullshit. I'll post a couple logs I have when I get home.
