And just how does gas cover somebody in purple dust? The answer is it doesn't, else people wouldn't eat baked beans, sausages, and so on for fear of walking around all covered in purple.

So you would get angry at the professor, swear vengenace and kill him? Or counter his belief's with your own in a debate? The reality is the "rubbish" Masters is spouting can be traced to Raymond Feist's books, the first of which is called "The Master of the Five Magic's". From everything about the mage classes in CF, it looks very much like there ARE seperate magics. Theorizing, debating and defining them sounds EXACTLY like what the Masters cabal SHOULD be doing. I think I understand your rebellion against pigheaded authority but I hope the underlying theme doesn't get thrown out with the bath water. Namely that this seems likely a hell of an opportunity to improve the definitions and if completed, set standard definitions and with that some changed emote's if that is what is determined. The "conjure" in the spell cast is 5 years old and Conjurer's are 3 months?

Are the first 10 levels of mage spells the same and differentiation of class later? Or does a transmuter "change the nature of" the material around him to create fairie fog? The material being any of a million thing's, to include dust motes in the air, carbon dioxide (though he might not name it as such) etcetera. Heck, the whole sylvan thing is wrapped up in this question. Personally, i'd think it would be a hell of a lot easier to punt on the first 11 levels and call it all the same and having class differences become apparent after. :P

I have no idea if Narlock is power tripping since I have not interacted with him, hence he gets the benefit of the doubt.

ramble, ramble.
