First thing I thought:

"Silly Ismail. That's Zorszaul and Jeurno both doppled as Gergran. Surely, no Sylvan healer would ally with...."

Then I saw the insect swarm. Oh. Then I thought:

"Surely Gergran knows he's next, right?"

Apparently not. He had a chance to separate and run after Ismail was doomed. But he got caught in the Tower, so he apparently didn't try.

Right now, I'm consoling myself with the theory that Gergran was trying to lure Zorszaul into a trap, and turned on him just after Ismail fell, and died in the ensuing struggle.

"Surely he wasn't actually -trusting-....."
