She made SEVERAL attempts to redirect damage, she was just a little slow and since rescue took the arby out of combat, hit wasn't wokring.
And the Arbiters Keep winning against battle because the village decides to war with not only Arbiters, but the Tower, the Empire, and when they attack any of the many mages in other cabals, that puts them in a tight spot too. They always end up waging a war on all fronts. And they do have a strong upperhand with all their memebers untill someone half decent leaves, and the whole thing collapses on them.
