Why?

Because it's supported by the Arcane, whose "IRC insider" tips and info have yet to lead me astray.

Regardless, however, Pwent gear isn't -save paralysis, which is what Gergran needed. If you're going to gate after a transmuter, you probably can't have too much save paralysis. (My recent char got held with relative ease through -41 para save, so believe me, I bumped it up.) There's no worse/more frustrating way to die (except perhaps PWK).
