All of his damage came from the knifings, ALL OF IT.

Therefore, you stop the knifings you loot his corpse. How do you stop the knifings? You trip his ass. You missed a trip, which is awful. You should've mastered that as soon as you got it(if you had just gotten it you should've been off some place secluded working on it)

Disarm was a waste since he obviously had a trigger set up to pick up his weapon and wield it after you disarmed him which should've been apparent after the first disarm.

You should've either ran off or spammed trip and hope you hit it most of the time. You weren't hitting him a lot, but you were hitting him more than he was hitting you in straight combat.
