The wrongly accused aren't always calm, and I doubt that those that react in outrage are in the minority.

In 1997 I, along with a young friend was accused of pointing a gun at a small child while in my car. I was pulled over, and with one cop training his firearm at me, a second officer searched me while I was on the ground. He said "where's the gun, where's the gun."
We had no guns. Yet, my friend, who was a member of the JROTC in high school was asked if he owned any sort of gun; he did in fact have a competition rifle (pellet I think, JROTC had competitions) which was locked away, and in his home a block away. They arrested my friend. We reacted angrily, because we did nothing, but at the moment we were in deep doodoo, because of manufactured bs that made us look very guilty. I lost my point, I'm just still angry about it, and your post rekindled my anger.
