I spend a fair amount of time on crack and hearing voices, but I seem to recall the Imms position being that lowbies having access to a Heros corpse's inventory is a Good Thing, by way of distributing shiny toys. This would suggest that any 'solution' would have to allow lowbies to have at least a chance at snagging an item.
The simple compromise where PKs can "get all corpse", but non-PKs cannot (but can still "get ring corpse"), would seem to give comfort to both sides.
