Now, if a conjurer sits in their guild to conjure, you probably aren't going to catch them entirely without pets. (Unless you are Entropy, or another conjurer, or a couple other scenarios.) But there are plenty of ways to catch them without "full prep" going, left for the reader to determine.

See? I know it's rare that you'll be able to catch them without a full group of pets.

"Full prep" is more than having a demon and elemental. Aura/barrier/shield/stoneskin/bonus_special_stuff falls into this category. So does using haste staves and the like to beef up your servitors. So does bringing along nasty offensive staves/wands/scrolls when you don't think you'll need the shield so much.

I think it's safe to say that you can catch conjurers without "full prep". The conjurer in the above log lost more than half of his hit points. One or two missing prep items (or more clever foes), and he dies or flees.
