Just like if you had a giant glacier dropped on your head, it doesn't matter if you're wearing a spacesuit and could withstand -200 degree temperatures, it still weighs about 10 million tons or so and will turn you into a pancake.. I figure iceneedles must be doing damage because they're nasty sharp needles turning you into a gigantic pincushion or such, not because they're cold or necessarily icy.
