It is true that you shouldn't have allowed yourself to be caught in this situation, but hey... It happens. You mentioned in your post that you did not know the area well, yet you went in to try to trick Sargon into getting himself killed. Big mistake. If you see someone that you know is an enemy of yours in an area that you don't know, don't go in there and try to fight them, because you can pretty much safely assume that they know the area better than you do. The following is a list of disadvantages that you put yourself at by fighting in an area that you do not know:

a) You may be beaten because of the fact that you don't know where any forested areas are, and you won't be able to use these to your advantage... Which is a BIG advantage for rangers.

b) You may start kicking the crap out of your enemy, but when he/she starts running away, you'll never catch up because you have no idea where the hell they're headed.

c) You may start losing, but not be able to get away because even though you might have a vague idea as to where you are headed, the other person would be three steps ahead of you.

Learn the layout of the commonly traveled areas. When you group with someone else that leads, watch where they're going.

Okay, right here you were knocked down from 67% hps to 35% in one single attack... Buffet, which can be cast every round of combat. That's no fun :P.

That failed camo could have just about ended it. If he didn't lose his concentration on that spell, it would have knocked you down to around 25% health. If he got that off, you probably would have been dead the next round, due to the lag from herb... You would have gotten the flower from your sack, gotten a "You are too busy fighting to think about food." message, another buffet and then last but not least... The Temple Altar. Judging by the amount of damage you were doing to him, you probably could have gotten a pretty decent ambush on him if you had camo'd there. Remember: Rangers are not like other fighting classes in some ways; they are much more dependant on preparation and knowledge of areas/items. They are a very powerful class.

If there are typos, I'm sorry. It's late :P. Anyway, welcome to CF, you seem about 300 times more likeable than 99.9% of the newbies that end up coming to these boards... Or CF period for that matter. You'll get the hang of things soon enough, I bet. Good luck, have fun, etc etc etc. Gotta go now, the men in white coats are coming with the needles again.
