When he used his fireball he started fighting with the ranger guard too. Flee right away and creep back in, and real quick dirt kick him. That way he won't be able to cast anything but area spells to hurt you. Then call in the wolf to help you hit and bearcharge the hell out of him. The key is to keep him blind and not directly fighting you. Maybe put a snare outside if he manages to escape :)
