Mindless slaughter of gnomes? Lets take a look at the paladins role here. If you read the paladin code and read about evil taint, you can easily see why all masters deserve a beating. Elves join masters and follow a Lich as their leader? That elf is now tainted. Now perhaps a paladin would not go so far as to attack a lightwalker who is a master, but I can easily see a paladin seeing a gnome as so greatly tainted as to warrant an attack. There are only two cabals that do not allow evil in them at all. Sylvan and Dawn. It makes perfect sense for uncaballed paladins, or any Maran, to side with the Warders. The paladin code is there for paladins to use and interpret, not for those who are tainted to use against them.
