In Reply to: Pitiful that you immorted and you were never dedicated to ragers from the start. Much less writing enough pestering scrolls to symbolize rp'ing enough to get immorted. Guess all one needs to do is write some stupid notes to get raised*boggle* posted by Onlooker. on January 9, 2000 at 21:003:43:

Bards are *supposed* to be more than warriors with songs. Kastellyn had a hobby, and chose to document it. It will likely end up in the Lyceum. Why? Take the perspective of being a new player. The kinds of information that folks like Scaurus and Kastellyn adds a little color to Thera, and provides teasers as to what may await if one travels the realms a bit more. A nice little service to the MUD if you ask me.

And it's realistic! In days of yore, people had to get their information about faraway places from travellers unless they had the resources to do the travelling themselves. If I were travelling to Eryn Galan, and had not been there before, I might ask around at a local tavern to find out if I should bring my own food, or if the services there are worthy. I could do this by asking whoever happens to share the Inn in question with me that day, but if someone were to scribe a small book with all that information, it would be quite a popular read in those pre-Industrial days. CF has ways for a bard to create written works, but they are either destroyed at the first reboot (via pen, etc.), or require an Immortal's assistance (adding an object to an area, etc.). Kastellyn used the notes, which I see as akin to having a town crier spread the word- everyone hears about it for a few days, then it fades away unless one was clever enough to write it down.

And if you don't like it, hit note a few times, and it goes away.

Finally, if you hunt through the log board a bit, I think you will see that Kastellyn is an above-average roleplayer, and can handle himself in a fight. I'm not saying he is my favorite or most feared Theran, but based on my limited knowledge, I can see someone like that turning into a fine IMM. At the very least, I'd bet he writes an interesting area, as his notes were well-written, whether you like them or not.

In summary, don't rip on people who stick their neck out and do things a little differently. I think his "mending of ways" and forsaking of magic is a nice twist on the "usual" BattleRager role. The most interesting roleplayers in Thera know how to incorporate flaws, past weaknesses, and the like into their character.
