IMHO, master conjurers are infinitely more powerful (when prepared) than an invoker or transmuter. By my count the archon healed him 8 times (that's 1600 hp!). It looks like he had 790 or so to start, i.e., he had a total of 2390 hp. There is no way any mage can get close to that using barrier or transform, even with the rods. (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Anyway, just pointing out that an invoker would not have lasted nearly that long.
