He can attack all the evil he wants to, just as long as he's doing it for the right reasons, and it fits in with his RP. Protecting the light and doing that sorta thing is primary, but theres nothing that says you can't also go out and punish those darkfiends all you want. You can play a Shokite Dawnie...its a hard role, but theres been a few who have done it well.
