I've had three servants(Salipek, Carvahlin, Mhodinrin) and all three of those together didn't spend as much time in the Haven as you do. You sit in the haven like you're even a little bit safe, let me assure you that you are not. If you're going to sit around doing nothing, do it in the Inn!

So, Salipek's top ten reasons Firhindil and 90% of all servants die regularly are:

10)For some reason people who play servants always choose storm giants or elves(exp penalties suck, especially for a warrior).

9)They don't keep golden aura up at all times.

8)They don't know how to properly re-gear themselves. If you can't re-equip a 35+ ranked goody well enough to beat some ass just using request, then you should spend a lot more time exploring and a lot less time sitting on your duff waiting to die.

7)Far too trusting. If you rush to the aid of somebody in your range without asking a few precursory questions, you're asking to die. A good hint is to handoff rescue missions for people in your range to some other servant who isn't, especially if you have no idea who they are.

6)Servants don't have the ability to detect evil. This alone has probably led to many servant deaths. Check NT for potions to rectify this situation.

5)Servants are most often played by relative newbies who don't know where to hole up in times of danger and so they go to the only place they know, the "Haven".

4)Too dependent. The only way to get better at CF is to take some initiative and learn the ropes. A LOT of servants who die immediately start asking for aid over cb, don't do that if you don't have to. Whenever I died I made sure to get the majority of the stuff on my own. As a 20th ranked Mhodinrin I turned down aid from Ilobel who offered to get me some decent stuff.

3)People who play CF are largely an inadequate bunch, especially those that play evils. What I mean by this is that they refuse to take risks. That big ass "Servant of the Dawn" target drawn on a servants back just screams "Hey, I'm a newbie, come kick my ass." Therefore, people gun for servants, not because they have any real reason, but because servant usually means easy meat. That's why it's so much fun to play a proactive servant with a bad attitude. The element of surprise is key to being successful in CF, and believe me, nobody is more surprised than the people that die when a servant beats their ass.

2)Reactive rather than proactive actions. Servants wait to die, rather than going out and making sure that they won't die. What's the best way to make sure you won't die you might ask? That's easy, make sure every evil in your pk range is naked.

1)They believe in the name "Haven." Don't. The Haven of the Dawn should be called The Barrel, with the servants sitting inside like schmucks the fish.

Now, in closing I'd like to advertise Dawn. Reasons to play dawn include:

-It's one of the better rp cabals, although there's usually one that talks to much over cb, usually asking for help getting gear. There is NO other cabal that has as many debates over cb as does dawn.

-Hearing people bitch and moan when you kill them. It's an incredible shot to the ego when you die to a servant, because you expect them to suck. When you kill somebody and they start crying to you because you beat their ass it's usually good for 5 minutes of good belly laughs.

-One of the highest pinnacles of achievement is to know that you caused somebody to delete. Causing people to delete as a servant is pretty easy if you kill them, because they've just been beaten by somebody that should suck grapes. It's an incredible feeling to know that you affected somebody at another computer in such a way as to cause them to delete their char in shame. I highly suggest ranking up to about 35th and go proactive, making sure to count the number of people you just killed on the graveyeard.

So roll up a servant today!
