When this happened to me, I certainly didn't talk about equipment. (Although in my case, my armor was left for me, but not my weapons.) What I -did- do: 1) Threatened Lord Dan with what will happen if he dared trifle with an Imperial soldier again. Soon after, Agorinth (for other reasons as well) escalated the conflict between the Empire and Darsylon, denied elves the privilege of protection under the BloodOath, and declared that elves should be killed on sight. I made a few more trips there when I had more ranks under my belt, ran among the elves killing guards and such, and took out my little IC revenge. Why this is a good thing for IMMs to do: The Captain of the Darsylon guard came after you because... you were killing Darsylon's elite guardsmen! The MOB was acting the way a MOB should act! Yes, it sucks to die- the IMM probably should have just let you flee while convulsing, in my opinion, or it should be set so you don't lose XP when a switched mob kills you. (I don't remember if I got put in an XP hole from that.) The bottom line is that Lord Dan did what Lord Dan would do if a player controlled him. Plus, you were violating a pact made by your Empire, which isn't exactly good Empire RP. Rules are rules, you know, and if you get caught breaking them, you can expect some hurting. If Agorinth ever discovered my consultations with Milia (the appointed Diplomat of Darsylon) during that time (for other IC reasons.. quite interesting subplot), I would have had a large Anathema sticker on my forehead for sure, even though Milia and I did not exactly like each other IC- we both had information the other wanted. My advice: Turn this into a roleplaying opportunity for your character. Revive the Empire/Darsylon conflict if you can, and take your vengeance. Damn prissy elves deserve it. =) - Stahlhagen, the Formerly Doomed, now merely Dead.
2) Made some rude comments about Darsylon.
3) Wrote a note to Agorinth describing how some damned elf told me Imperial soldiers were not allowed in the Vale. (There was no pact at the time.)
