I won't say whether or not this reference belongs in Thera, but I believe you should give the immortals the benefit of a doubt... They did not choose to put Pontius in there because of his role in the Bible; Pontius Pilate was the caretaker of Roman law and order for many, many years; unfortunately, he is only remembered for his role in the crucifixion.

I would agree it may be out of place (RP-wise), but I don't see how it could possibly upset or annoy you (yes, I am a Christian).
