When something like that happens, it can seem like assassins are grossly overpowered. Ditto when you get PWK'd multiple times with apparent ease by a necro.
Play an assassin, though, and you'll realize it's not all it's cracked up to be.
1) There's about 90% saturation of assassins right now, making being one almost pointless. Assassin-to-assassin fights tend to suck ass and be boring too. Plus no assassination.
2) The other 10% are thieves and duergars.
3) And the remainder have played assassins before and know how to keep from being assassinated. Throw in all the cheating immortals and heavenly conspiracies against YOU (the assassin) and the chances of getting what happened in your log run pretty slim.
