This will only work if no one else is near, but just give all your valuable stuff to some lowbie mob (or a groupmate) while you fight the guardian/ruler/whatever. You can also just leave it on the ground, but then you are really betting you can grab it before the looter does. Jusy pray no one summons your fully stacked lowbie mob. =)
