Because noone answered correctly in the string below, and I try to fight an active campaign against ignorance on the forum, I will answer this question.

What is the difference between Sonar and Echolocation?

Some said they are synonymous, not exactly.

the term Sonar, actually is used to describe two different kinds of using sound to locate objects.

Active sonar- sending sound waves and anylazing the echo in order to locate/identify an abject.

Passive sonar- Basically a big microphone, analyzing existing sounds to locate/identify.

Echolocation is basically synonymous with ACTIVE sonar, and has nothing to do with passive sonar.

As it was explained to me, Scientists first coined the term "Echolocation" to make sure there was no confusion between what bats/dolphins/whales etc. do and passive Sonar.

As for the Cf content, I do not beleive this is how a nightgaunt hunts, I think that they rely more on a magical connection forged by the conjurer.
