No, emotes don't lag you in the sense that typing bash does, but in the middle of a fight, everything is distinctly laid out.
For example: Ug and Lug start a trip war:
They both try to trip at the same time, but Ug's goes through first
Ug trips Lug
two rounds pass
Lug trips Ug
two rounds pass
Ug Trips Lug
two rounds pass
Lug decides to emote something
Ug Trips Lug.
basically, you get your one chance to enter the command in most fights (some fights, true, will be filled with non-lagging attacks). So by doing that, you sacrifice the chance to do something that round (if the other person is spamming delaying attacks)
He was flamed for using a client to do his Roleplaying. First we had clients do our fighting, now our roleplaying. Sure, accidently typing 'grop joe' instead of 'group joe' is silly, having your client insert emotes automatically isn't going to impress anyone (especially if your spamming the command).
> there is no lag on emotes as far as i know.... so what does it hurt. i actually think it is pretty cool of him to think of all those sayings for his role. why be negative... it seems to me he is doing more for the game than you are.
