I actually agree with you, to some extent. But you have to look at it from an enforcing point of view. If we let names like leaf slide, then when someone rolled up monster we wouldn't have a leg to stand on. It's an attempt to keep the name rules consistant by eliminating the grey areas. Oh, and FYI...when you've been busted for a bad name...typing 'who' and looking for an equally bad name just pisses us off and never works.

As far as names like tommy and johny...yeah, I really hate them too. But it's much harder to draw the line on common names. They're not in the dictionary. And unoriginal names like that just sorta slide into uncommon names and then slide to obscure names. It then becomes hard to draw a clear line on where they should stop.

Although there's not a campaign to nuke them all, I think I can say that none of the immortals look down to see Tommy praying at their shrine and get a warm fuzzy feeling. It's kind of like waving a flag that says 'unoriginal'. It's just not that hard to come up with original names.
