> Reading over your recent posts, I'm nothing short of disturbed. I don't mean this in a bad way, but honestly, you need to step back a bit and take a look at some of the things you've written, and your priorities in life. I'm surprised no one has picked up on it or commented on it at least....

> I think it's been more than adequately explained how the right way to be a "somebody" on CF isn't by flagging everyone or something or the sort. However, the more important question really, is: why do you place so much importance on being a "somebody" in this imaginary world, to the point where you speak in dramatic tones that convey obvious anxiety and distress over the whole issue?

> We're all guilty of this, to varying extents, I'd say... except perhaps for the rare individual who's really well-adjusted and doesn't care one way or another if his/her characters are liked or disliked. I get a kick out of seeing someone post about a character of mine in a positive light, and it bothers me if I get the impression that people think one of my characters is a fuckup.

> Fact is, however, it really doesn't change anything if your characters here are liked or disliked, successful or unsuccessful. It's an empty and transient source of self-confidence that won't serve you well in the long run. If you stick around for another year or two with this approach, sure, you may just have a renowned character or two, or three. But in the end, CF will disappear for good (all MUDs do eventually), or you'll just move on in life, and you won't have anything to show for all your efforts except some memories, and much-improved typing skills. None of these people you're trying to please know you as a person--why should you place such great weight upon their opinions, good or bad?

> If you desire an escape from reality, a relaxing means of releasing stress, or the fun of PKing, by all means go ahead. And of course we all get upset when we die, to player or mob, and think about the number of hours utterly wasted obtaining gear or experience that has now been lost, but that comes with the territory. When you find your emotional well-being suffering in a real way due to the game, you need to take a break. This is clichéd and horribly cheesy, I know, but try to "be somebody" in school, in your career, or whatever else is the main focus of your life.

> Perhaps I'm going overboard, in which case I apologize, but I was seriously alarmed by the cry-for-help tone in the half dozen posts I read, amounting to "I'm sorry you all hate me, I just wanted to be noticed for a change."

> I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world trying to find a new perspective.
