This is what I think your post basically said, minus the smart-assed psycho-analysis of Koe that I didnt really agree with (minced with a few of my own personal thoughts). A person's MUD character can be something of pride, to a small degree. Then again, you can't really walk around to people on the street saying "hey, guess what, I was the Emperor of Thera a while ago!"... You'd probably get shot or arrested or both. It's kinda like a drawing in a way. The person can be very creative and spend a lot of time on his/her character (+-550 hours per character sometimes) and it's understandable that they'd be a little bit upset if the character fell short of their expectations... Hell, if you want to have a character that everyone will remember in a good or bad way and want to strive for that, go right ahead. Of course I wouldn't lose any sleep over it or anything if you failed, just as I wouldn't throw a party if I succeeded. Remember that it's just a game... If you win, you win, if you lose, try again or move on or something. You just have to be careful and not get too involved or serious about it. If you are regarding the MUD as a constant source of stress IRL, take a long, long break and remember that all this is is a bunch of 1's and 0's that have nothing to do with your real life events, and shouldn't. It's just a source of amusement and a way to waste time and have a little fun.
