He doesn't need the powers at all. Extra skills/spells/autopowers have absolutely nothing to do with what you mention. That is *political* power, manipulation, etc. Being able to autotrip,autodirt, audodisarm, autokick isn't going to help you in a meeting of the council or in a meeting with an immortal. No, being a good politician, a good schemer, a good manipulator, is what is necessary to keep the throne. Insanely powerful extras have nothing to do with this part. Sevietrem was ousted because he didn't show up enough. (Sucks that it was for college break, but that's why.) He wasn't ousted because he didn't fight in pk's well enough.
