Long time ago, while I was still only about 25th rank, there were messages sent requesting help. Seems some big baddy was terrorizing Ofcol, and Jacklyn was about to get pounced on. A call went forth and many arrived to help inthe fray. The battle raged and some died, many fled, a some just sat and watched. An invisible voice called out for all those under 35th or so rank to flee for safety, it was not safe. The battle raged on, some still watching, but many helping Jacklyn battle the beast. I recall only a very few trying to heal Jacklyn, she was taking the brunt of the attack after all, but I stayed and healed her all I could. I had joined the fight early, and seeing I was WAY out of my league, I left to recoup and return. I spent the rest of the battle healing Jacklyn, and some of the others about. The beast was defeated, and 'there was much rejoicing'. I returned to my guild, with the satisfaction of a job well done. Few moments later, I was hailed by a messenger, bearing a gift from Jacklyn herself. A ring, signifying her thanks, was given to me. I don't know if anyone else got a reward of any kind, but I do know that my gift was unique. I had many people ask, and it was my honor to relay the story then, though memory fails me now. I took that day, and used it to guild my actions from then on. Not everyone the called for help was an alley, some just laid in wait, but I never lost sight of the need to help others. I did eventually become a Knight, and although my name may be remembered by a very few, that one interaction gave me a goal, and showed me my purpose in that lifetime.
